NEWBERRY, S.C. -Â The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team took down Newberry College (3-7-2, 2-5-1) tonight 2-1. The Royals now sit at 5-4-4 overall and 2-3-3 in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC).

The Royals quickly opened the scoring in the 7th minute of play when
Edmundo Robinson received a ball from
Michael Hornsby on the right side of the box and beat the goalie to put the score at 1-0.

Kieran Gore gave the Royals another look at a goal when he took a shot off of a header that was saved by Wolves goalkeeper, Brad Dixon. Time would expire with Queens leading 1-0 at the half.

Queens started the second half off similarly to the first with another goal by Robinson in the 54th minute, this time off an assist from
Juan Carlos Carrillo, to put the Royals ahead 2-0.

Newbery put itself on the board in the 65th minute of play with a goal by Neumann Till from inside the box off a pass from Bucco Fabrizio. The clock would run out with the Royals up 2-1.

The Royals accumulated eight shots on goals with Robinson leading the attack with three. Hornsby, Gore,
Keegan Burton,
Rene Uffing and
Adam Ward all had one shot on goal apiece. Queens goalkeeper
Sergio Lemus grabbed five saves on the night.

The Royals return home on Saturday, October 18 to face Anderson University for a match at 7:30 p.m. at the Queens Sports Complex.
