CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team picked up a 3-2 overtime win over Bellarmine University this afternoon giving the Royals their second win of the year over the Knights. The Royals now sit at 3-6 on the year while Bellarmine moves to 4-7 on the year.

A pair of goals from Bellarmine's Lillie Nitzken and Alex Hill at 5:19 and 14:24, respectively, put the visiting Knights in front, 2-0, early in today's game. Queens was able to close the gap to just one when
Mazvita Mtisi scored in the 25
th, and the 2-1 score would hold until the half.

Jocelyn Lawrence equalized the match in the 58
th scoring after receiving a pass from
Maya Forbes. Forbes would also take the final shot of regulation to try to win the match for Queens, but her shot was turned away by Bellarmine goalkeeper Heather Gregory.

Following a timeout by the Knights in the 79
th, Mtisi would score the game-winner with 4:15 left to play in the first overtime period.

Queens edged Bellarmine in shots, 13-12, putting nine shots on goal to the Knights' six. Childers completed play in the cage with four saves.

Queens is back in action on the road at Belmont Abbey College on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. The Royals faced the Crusaders earlier in the year winning 5-0. The game is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
