Brandi Kist

Brandi Kist joined the Royals as the first head field hockey coach in Queens history in 2015 after coaching the App State Mountaineers field hockey team for eight seasons. The Royals played one club season before officially beginning NCAA competition in the fall of 2016.

  • Millie Eaton-Jones and Victoria Tredinnick named to NFHCA Senior Team
  • Four earned All-Conference honors
    • Millie Eaton-Jones (1st for the fourth consecutive year)

2020
  • The Royals were voted preseason favorites.
  • Queens completed the modified season with a 6-3 overall record and a 4-2 league record.
  • They closed the season in the conference tournament championship game after reaching the title match for the third year in a row.
 
2019
  • The Royals finished conference play with a 10-2 record to win their first-ever regular season championship.
  • The Royals completed the year at 13-7 after reaching the championship game of the conference tournament for the second year in a row.
  • Kist was named league coach of the year
  • Avian Thompson earned defensive player of the year honors.
     
2018
  • The Royals completed their first season as a member of South Atlantic Conference Carolinas in 2018 ranked second in the league with a 6-4 record at the end of the regular season.
  • In postseason play, they advanced to the championship game of the conference tournament where they fell to Limestone by just one goal, 3-2, bringing their overall record to 9-10 on the year.
  • Karla von Ehren was named South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year.
  • Karla von Ehren, Millie Eaton-Jones, and Mazvita Mtisi were named to the all-conference first team, and Carey Karl made an appearance on the honorable mention squad.
 
2017
  • Saw her team earn Zag Field Hockey / NFHCA Division II National Academic Team Award
  • Claire Sharp named a Zag Field Hockey / NFHCA Division II Scholar of Distinction.
  • Saw 16 players named to Zag Field Hockey / NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad.
  • Maha Clarke named 2018 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar.
 
2016
  • Led the Royals to their first-ever program win in 2016.
  • Led team to a 9-7 record in the program’s inaugural season, the first team to post a winning record in its inaugural season across all divisions. 
     
Appalachian State
  • Served as head coach of the Appalachian State University field hockey program for eight seasons.
  • Held the assistant coach position in the fall of 2005.

  • Lindenwood University - Graduate assistant coach, 2003-2005.
  • United States Field Hockey
    • Assistant coach for South Region High Performance Team, Summer of 2009, 2010, and 2011.
    • Coach & selector for USFHA Futures Program.
  • Additionally, Kist has worked with the University of Pennsylvania and Ursinus College teams.
  
Playing Career
  • Kist was a field hockey player at the University of Pennsylvania from 1999-2002.
    • Following her junior season Kist was named Most Improved Player after starting in every game.
    • Earned team captain honors her senior season.
  • Kist was also a member of the US Field Hockey High Performance Program.
    • Played in the New South Wales Metro League Women’s Division in Australia.
    • Selected to play at the 2018 FIH Master's World Cup, a biennial tournament held at the Club Egara in Terrassa, Spain from July 27 to August 5.
 
Personal
Kist holds a degree in classical studies with a concentration in civilization from the University of Pennsylvania. She also has a master’s degree in sport management from Lindenwood. She also has a USFHA Level 2 Coaching accreditation.
