Royals Bounce Back with Road Win over North Georgia

DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The Royals traveled to face the University of North Georgia this evening in a nonconference game, defeating the Nighthawks by a score of 4-1. Queens University of Charlotte improves to 2-1 on the year with the win, while North Georgia, currently ranked 10th in the southeast region, falls to 1-2.

After taking 10 shots in the opening half, Queens would see their first point of the night just before the half time break when senior midfielder Corey Brown put the ball in the net from inside the box. Brown would receive a through ball from sophomore forward Edmundo Robinson before taking the shot that would give his team the lead heading into the break.

Brown then returned the favor in the 52nd minute assisting Robinson on a goal that would give the Royals a 2-0 lead. About eight minutes later a foul inside the box allowed the Nighthawks to cut Queens' lead in half at minute 61 when Eddie Hurst capitalized on a penalty kick for the home team.

However, that was as close as the Royals would allow the Nighthawks to get as sophomore defender Luc Patberg found the back of the net on a header after receiving a ball from Brown. Brown then notched his third assist on the night feeding the ball to Robinson for his second goal of the night after the pair broke away from the Nighthawk's defense in a counter attack.

Both the Royals and the Nighthawks put eight shots on frame this evening. Sergio Lemus took the win in goal after totaling seven saves, while Michael Samnik recorded four saves on the night.

Queens will be back at home on Saturday to play host to Barton College. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
