Queens Falls to No. 9 Wingate

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team faced No. 9 Wingate University in a rematch of the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Championship, falling 2-1 to the Bulldogs. The loss brings the Royals to 4-3 on the year and 1-2 in the SAC, while Wingate improves to 5-0 on the season and 3-0 in league play.

Both teams would score tonight's goals in the first half of action with the Bulldogs putting both of theirs on the board in the 34th minute of play. Aksel Juul would score the first at 33:11, and he would tally an assist on the second scored by Callum Ross at 33:45. Christian Szalay also notched an assist on Ross' goal, having dished the ball off to Juul just before he crossed it to Ross.

Queens would have a response in the 40th minute when a hard tackle inside the box led to a penalty kick for the home team. Oemer Okyar stepped up to drill the ball into the back of the net, bringing the Royals to within one of the Bulldogs just before the half.

The Bulldogs totaled six shots on goal this evening as Queens placed three shots on frame. The Royals' Sergio Lemus tallied four saves on the night, while Pablo Jara of Wingate recorded two saves.

Prior to tonight's game Corey Brown was presented with the 2015-16 SAC Presidents Award.
