CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team traveled to face Limestone College this afternoon after just picking up an overtime win yesterday afternoon. The Royals would fall 1-0 to the Saints in overtime, moving their record to 3-3 on the year. Limestone sits at 3-3 on the year as well.
Following a shot by Limestone's Kate Remley that Queens'
Miranda Childers turned away from the cage, the Saints would be awarded a penalty corner. Remley took the shot once more, scoring the game winner this time. Cassidy Coates tallied the assist on the play.
The Royals' best opportunity to put one in the net came in the 19
th minute when
Renee Smith put a shot on goal that was saved by Limestone goalkeeper Tabria Cochran. Smith's shot on goal was the only one for the Royals of the day.
Childers had a great day in goal, completing play with a season high 12 saves after facing 22 shots.
Queens will return to Dickson Field to host Mansfield University on Sunday, September 25 at 11 a.m.
