CHARLOTTE, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team tallied their fourth win of the season against Mansfield on Sunday, September 25, 2016. Queens scored the lone goal in the match as they moved to a 4-3 overall record. Mansfield dropped to 1-7.
Queens managed to secure the only point in the match coming off a pass to the left corner of the goal by
Hanna Nechay for
Renee Smith to tap in. The goal came in the 19
th minute of the game. The Royals continued to look for opportunities as
Lauren Wolfgang and
Abby Carls each had a shot on goal but it was the team's defense that allowed them the win.
Queens stopped five shots on goal by Mansfield who was fighting for an equalizer.
Miranda Childers record four saves to help keep the net clear in addition to a defensive save by
Sta'sha Waterfield.
Mansfield was led by Christie Buyer to tallied four shots on goal. Larissa Motts also added to the team's offense with two shots on net. Laura Lawson played in goal the whole match to tab one save.
Queens will be back in action on October 4, at 7 p.m., as the team travels to Newberry College.
