Florence, S.C. – The No. 41-ranked Queens University of Charlotte women's tennis team fell on Saturday, February 6, 2016, to Francis Marion. The 6-3 loss would be the first of the year for the Royals who moved to a 1-1 record while Francis Marion found their first win to mirror a 1-1 run on the year.
Queens found just one win in the paired play as
Marta Gonzalez and
Caroline Nielsen battled to take an 8-5 victory. The two found their win over Sofia Henning and Anilu Barraza Araiza for the No. 2 doubles point.
In singles,
Melissa Laing tallied the team's first individual victory, topping Henning on court 3. Laing pressured finding her way to a 6-4, 6-2 win.
Carlotta Nassi claimed the team's last point as the No. 44 individually ranked athlete took the No.1 singles point with a 6-4, 7-5 score.
Queens will be back in action on February 13
th, traveling to Southern Wesleyan for a 1 p.m., showing against the Warriors.
