CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team moved to 11-0 on the year with an 83-55 South Atlantic Conference win over Coker College this evening. The Royals improve to 5-0 in the league with the win as well. Coker falls to 5-5 on the season and 2-2 in the SAC.

Despite having one of their harder nights putting the ball in the hoop, the Royals were able to pull out the nearly 30 point win by holding the Cobras to just 29.7-percent shooting on the night. Queens also held Coker to just five second chance points. Additionally, the Royals capitalized on the Cobras' 22 turnovers, converting them into 28 points.

Both
Jared Hendryx and
Todd Withers recorded double-doubles in the win as Hendryx totaled 13 points and 15 rebounds and Withers totaled 13 points and 10 rebounds.
Jalin Alexander scored 20 points to lead the way, while
Daniel Carr added 14 points. Carr also tallied seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Darryl White notched four points, nine rebounds and six assists.

After getting off to a slow start, the Royals went on a 19-5 run to build a 30-15 lead with 6:14 to play. The Cobras answered cutting their deficit to nine, 30-21, with 5:34 to play, but Queens responded with another push to see their largest lead of the half, 43-25, on a layup from
Mike Davis at 2:38. Coker then closed with an 8-1 spurt to trail Queens 44-33 heading into the locker room.

The Royals saw their lead grow to 14 points, 53-39, by the 16:27 mark in the second half on a three from Alexander. After the Cobras responded cutting the margin to eight, 53-45, a pair of threes from Withers and Josh Van Weezup sparked a run that helped the home team build their lead to 20, 71-51, with 5:05 to play. Queens then extended their lead to as much as 29 points before the final horn sounded.

Coker was led by Nathan Lemke who totaled 20 points and 15 rebounds. Jake Barrett added 11 points and eight rebounds, while leading scorer JaQuez Motley was held to just seven points.

Queens will return to Curry Arena to take on Mars Hill University on Saturday at 4 p.m. The Royals swept the Lions in last season's home-and-home series, winning 87-75 on the road and 122-93 at home. It will be the final game for the Royals before the holiday break.
