CHARLOTTE, N.C. –The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team ended its three-game skid this evening with a 5-0 shutout win over Newberry College. The Royals improve to 6-6 on the year and 3-5 in South Atlantic Conference play with the win, while the Wolves fell to 3-9-1 on the season and 1-6-1 in the league.

The Royals dominated the opening half of action putting four goals on the board in less than 30 minutes. Junior midfielder
Alan Garcia Pena netted the first goal of the match in just the fifth minute with a one timer into the back of the net. His goal was soon followed by one from senior forward
Ryan Ejezie in the 10
th minute. Senior midfielder
Corey Brown tallied the assist on the play.

In the 25
th Brown found the back of the net on a left footed volley after receiving a cross in the box from sophomore forward
Alberto Morales. Not even three minutes later Morales would score the Royals' fourth goal after connecting on a header off of a corner kick from Brown.

Queens' fifth goal came in the second half from Brown, giving the senior six points on the night. Morales tallied his fourth point of the night after earning the assist on the play.

The Royals outshot Newberry 16-8, putting 10 shots on goal.
Sergio Lemus totaled three saves in goal for his first shutout of the season.

Queens will travel to face Anderson on Wednesday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. Last season, the Royals defeated Anderson 3-2 in overtime. Brown scored twice in the match.
