ANDERSON, S.C. –The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw with Anderson University this afternoon after neither team could find the back of the net in overtime. The Royals move to 3-5-1 in South Atlantic Conference play and 6-6-1 on the year, while Anderson now sits at 1-5-3 in the league and 5-5-3 on the year.
Queens'
Ryan Ejezie scored both of the Royals' goals today with the first coming in the 14
th minute. Ejezie dribbled around the 18 before beating Anderson's keeper for the 1-0 lead. However, the Trojans found an answer in the 26
th when Magnus Einarsson connected on a header from five yards out to tie the game at 1-1.
Ejezie found the back of the net for the second time in the 62
nd after he and
Corey Brown broke away from the Trojan back line. Ejezie would go one-on-one with Anderson's keeper to put the Royals ahead 2-1. Queens would hold the narrow lead until Anderson's Brad Du Plooy evened the game with a goal in the 77
th.
The 2-2 score from the end of regulation would hold until the end of both overtime periods.
Queens was outshot 26-22 by the Trojans, putting five shots on frame to Anderson's 10 shots on goal. Goalkeeper
Sergio Lemus completed his time in the net with eight saves.
Queens will travel to face Coker College on October 22 at 7 p.m. Last season the Royals defeated the Cobras 4-1.
