Queens Suffers Road Loss at Lenoir-Rhyne

HICKORY, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's soccer team traveled to face Lenoir-Rhyne University this evening, falling 3-0 to the Bears. The loss brings the Royals' record to 5-4 on the year and 2-3 in the league. The Bears improve to 6-3-1 on the season and 3-2 in South Atlantic Conference play.

Lenoir-Rhyne grabbed an early lead over the Royals scoring in the fifth minute of action. Ismael Noumansana notched the goal off of a corner kick. A goal from Kevin Nadeau in the 30th would give the Bears a 2-0 lead that they held on to until the break.

Queens' Corey Brown made an attempt to bring the Royals to within one in the 70th but his shot would be turned away by Lenoir-Rhyne goalkeeper, Zach King. The Royals' final shot on goal of the night came from Ryan Ejezie in the 90th minute, but it would come after the Bears had already put a third goal on the scoreboard in the 82nd.

Both teams totaled 13 shots tonight with the Bears edging Queens in shots on goal, 6-4. Queens goalkeeper Sergio Lemus completed play with three saves.

The Royals are back at home on Wednesday, October 5 when they host Catawba College at 7:30 p.m. Last season, Queens defeated the Indians 2-1 in overtime with Brown scoring the game winner in the 95th minute.
