Box Score JEFFERSON CITY, TENN. – The #15 Queens University of Charlotte Men's Basketball team (17-2, 11-2 SAC) came from behind in the second half to win their matchup against upset minded Carson-Newman (11-9, 7-7 SAC) 82-79 on Saturday, January 30, 2016.

The Royals shot 48 percent from the field and made ten three pointers in the game. Even though they were out-rebounded by the Eagles, 36-28, they were able to force 19 turnovers that resulted into 28 points for Queens.

Queens was led by
Rob Lewis who scored 24 points and made 6-of-10 three pointers. Lewis also added three rebounds and four assists in the game.
Marquis Rankin was also hot from the field as he scored 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field to go along with four rebounds.

The Royals didn't hold a lead in the first half, but they kept the Eagles within an arms length the entire period. Both teams were tied at 11 points apiece as
Rob Lewis made a three pointer with 13:03 on the clock in the first half. Later on in the half, Carson-Newman would grab a nine-point lead, 32-23, as they went on an 8-0 run following a three-point basket by Zack Pangallo with 4:45 remaining in the first half. The Royals battled back to cut the lead down to only three points, 38-35, with 1:16 left in the half, but the Eagles would go into the break with a five-point, 35-30 lead over the Royals.

Carson-Newman came out of halftime on a roll as they went on a 10-0 run to take a 53-39 lead with 15:18 remaining in the half. The Royals quickly responded by ending the Eagles run with a run of their own, an 11-0 run capped by a Lewis three pointer to cut the lead down to three points, 53-50, with 13:11 remaining on the clock. Queens continued to battle with the Eagles as they would eventually take their first lead of the game, 70-69, as
Kendall Jones drained back to back three pointers with 5:49 remaining in the game. Both teams would continue to fight for the lead as
Marquis Rankin made a layup with 1:29 remaining in the game to give Queens an 80-78 lead. Sawyer Williams was fouled with 12.4 seconds remaining in the game and was sent to the free throw line with the game on the line. Williams made the first free throw, but missed the second, with Queens'
Todd Withers grabbing the rebound. Withers was fouled and made both of his free throws to give the Royals an 82-79 lead with 11.8 second to go in the game. Carson-Newman had a chance to make a three pointer to tie the game as time expired, but the shot was off the mark and the Royals grabbed the rebound to seal the 82-79 win.

The Eagles were led by Charles Clark who scored 22 points in the game on 8-of-12 shooting from the field and also added seven rebounds. Sawyer Williams was also an important player for Carson-Newman as he added 16 points as he made 8-of-14 free throws and grabbed nine rebounds.

The Royals return to action on Monday, February 1st as they play host to the Anderson Trojans at 8:00 p.m. in the Levine Center.
