Charlotte, N.C. – A 9-0 victory befell the No. 36-ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis team (14-2, 9-2 SAC) on Sunday, April 12, 2015. Queens hosted the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne (9-14, 2-9 SAC) taking a sweep of all nine courts during the day's events.
Staring with three points for the doubles matches,
Ole-Jacob Meum and
Zachary Williams found a No. 3 Doubles victory against Matthew Ledford and John Christian Reid going 8-3.
Jules Athalis and
Will Roberson brought down the next point. The two found an 8-3 victory for the No. 2 spot over Filip Dobrosavljevic and Jordan Lawson. Playing on the lead court,
Per-Erik Soler and
Andor Vas overcame Robin Hochguertel and Patrick Baurer to come from behind and take a 9-7 match.
With just two points separating the team from the win, Soler put together a quick 6-2, 6-1 victory over Robin Hochgurtel for the No. 1 Singles spot. Meum would clinch the match point moments later with a 6-3, 6-2 victory for the No. 5 court.
Before the day was done, the remaining four courts would fall to the Royals.
Jules Athalis persevered through a 7-6 first set before laying claim to the No. 2 Singles spot with a 6-4 second set. Roberson went 8-3 against Dobrosavljevic for the No. 3 spot while Vas took the No. 4 Singles spot with an 8-1 victory over Reid. Williams took the last point for the team shutting Lenoir-Rhyne off the board with a clean 8-0 victory over Lawson for the No. 6 court.
Queens will begin preparation for the South Atlantic Conference Tournament. The tournament will begin on April 16, in Brevard N.C.
