Charlotte, N.C. – Returning to the courts after a 20 day absence, No. 36-ranked Queens University of Charlotte men's tennis (7-1, 2-1 SAC) wasted no time in finding their momentum on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, overcoming Wingate University (9-4, 7-1 SAC) 6-3 for the win.
Queens started the match with the upper hand grabbing all three doubles courts.
Ole-Jacob Meum and Zachary William took hold of the first point seeing the No. 3 doubles court, against Filippo Pezzoli and Josh Eardely, to an 8-3 game.
Per-Erik Soler and
Andor Vas secured point number two as the found the 9-7 victory over Neal Towlson and Sebastian Hall. Round out the paired matchup and taking the sweep,
Jules Athalis and
Will Roberson battled for their 8-6 win in the No. 2 spot against Connor Kudrick and Amir Zari.
Heading into the singles lineup, the Royals looked to find two more points to claim their victory. Soler moved the team a step closer going 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 1 Singles. Heading into a third set, Athalis came out victorious to see the game winning point as he took down the No 2 spot with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-3 win. Vas added one more to the night with is No. 4 singles win in a three set matchup going 4-6, 6-4, 11-9.
Royals are back in action this Friday as they host Brevard College (4-9, 0-7 SAC) at 1 p.m. at Freedom Park.
