#21 Royals Remain Unbeaten As They Defeat Crosstown Rival Johnson C. Smith

Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte Men's Basketball team continued their undefeated streak and made it to 6-0 on the season as they defeated Johnson C. Smith 87-77 on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in Curry Arena.
 
The Royals were led on offense by Sean Morgan who led the team in scoring as he dropped 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field. Rob Lewis scored 17 points in the game to go along with eight rebounds in the game.
 
Queens shot 13-of-28 from three-point range in the game, they also out-rebounded the Golden Bulls 41-to-37. The Royals did struggle from the free throw line, as they were only 8-17 from the charity stripe. Defensively, the Royals caused 15 turnovers, with quite a few of those coming from drawing offensive fouls on charges.
 
Johnson C. Smith would come out to an early lead as they led 16-8 with 13:07 remaining in the first half following a Stedmon Lemon three point basket. The Royals would battle back and take their first lead of the game, 21-20 with 9:51 on the clock, as Kendall Jones would drain a three pointer. As Queens took the lead, they would continue on what would end up being a 17-to-5 run to give them a five point lead, 25-20 with seven minutes remaining in the half. The Golden Bulls would go on a run of their own and take a one point lead, 28-27, with 4:47 remaining following an old-fashioned three point play by Stedmon Lemon. The Royals would score the last points of the half as a Rob Lewis three pointer would give the Royals a 42-37 lead going into the break.
 
The Royals halftime lead would get cut down to one point, 52-51, following a layup by Alandre Davis with 16:16 remaining in the game. Queens would answer by scoring nine straight points to make the score 60-51 following a three pointer by Todd Withers. Daniel Camps threw down a monstrous dunk with 11:28 remaining in the game to make the score 63-57 in favor of the Royals. The dunk led the Royals on a run that would see their lead grow as large as 14 points with 5:24 remaining in the game. Jared Hendrix would score the last points of the game for Queens as his dunk sealed the 87-77 win.
 
Johnson C. Smith was led by Alandre Davis, who had an outstanding game as he scored 23 points and added 14 rebounds. Stedmon Lemon was second on the team in scoring as he added 21 points for the Golden Bulls.
 
The Royals return to the court on Saturday, December 5, 2015 as go on the road to face Anderson University with the game scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
