Anderson, S.C- The Queens University of Charlotte volleyball team will compete in the South Atlantic Conference tournament tomorrow night as the Royals face the No. 3 seed Lenoir-Rhyne. Queens stands as the sixth seed in the competition as the team prepares for a 7:30 p.m., quarterfinal match at Anderson University.
The last week of play saw the team top the lead school in conference, Wingate, as the Royals took the match in five sets. However, the cost of the match win would be a loss to Brevard and Lenoir-Rhyne on the road. Tomorrow night's rematch, provides opportunity for the team to rally back from the 3-0 loss to the Bears last Saturday.
The Royals split the series with Lenoir-Rhyne with each team taking a home court win. Queens found the victory earlier in the season in four sets with the Royals securing 10 service aces with
Kelsey McCormick finding five in the match.
Meredith Jones would lead the team in kills with 12.
In the last game of the regular season,
Taylor Henry led the charge with eight kills in the match.
Megan Mancini tallied nine digs and three service aces to top the team in both statistical categories.
Brooke Redmond found 22 kills in the first meeting between the teams. She would also have 22 digs in the first match. Ashley Wells led the Bears in this weekend's match as she tallied 11 kills on the night.
The Royals will look to advance past the quarterfinal round of play tomorrow night with the first serve scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
