Box Score Charlotte, N.C.- The Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team (1-1) fell to the University of Mount Olive (1-1) on Saturday, November 14, 2015. Queens fell 78 to 47 to the Trojans but not before McKello Oliverio found 22 points in the game.
Oliverio made five of eight three point shots in addition to three of her four free throws, to contribute to her point tally. She would also find six rebounds to aid the team.
Carmen Richardson led the team in rebounds collecting seven while both
Sheridan Pressley and
Erin Brundage took two steals.
Arieal Johnson took a double-double for the Trojans leading the team with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Jada Bacchus also found a double-double scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The game started close as
Karleasha Thompson put the team within one at 8-7. However, the first quarter would end with the Trojans up 20-11.
A 12-0 run from Mount Olive started the second quarter as the Royals looked for answers finding it in
Victoria Robinson as she took a basket off a pass from Brundage. Queens would make up six points in the second quarter but not before one last basket gave Mount Olive a 42 to 25 lead heading into half.
With a push in the third quarter, Queens came within eight points with Brundage finding a defensive rebound on one end before taking the basket on the other to bring the game to a 42-34 score. However, the quarter would end with the Royals moving back to a 15 point gap. Despite the team battling, the Royals would never be able make up ground as they fell in the game.
The team will play Johnson & Wales next Wednesday, November 18 at 7 p.m.
