Charlotte, N.C.- Building off their involvement earlier in the semester where the Queens University of Charlotte women's basketball team visited Sedgefield Elementary School and washed the feet of the students, the team will be raising money and collecting shoes for the Samaritan's Feet Organization this Saturday, November 14, 2015. The Royals will be taking donations at the door as they look to impact lives through the act of proper shoe wear.
Samaritan's Feet is focused on improving the life and health of people through proper foot wear. In the last two years, the organization has given away more than 1,540,000 pairs of shoes around the world helping to empower those in need. The organization believes that proper foot wear not only provides hope, it also provides health and protects against diseases.
The women's basketball team has worked throughout the season and will use their game on Saturday to help raise awareness for the organization. The event will coincide with the South Atlantic Conference/ Conference Carolinas Classic as Barton, Mount Olive, and Catawba join the Royals for the tournament. Head Coach
Susan Yow will be coaching from the floor in her bare feet as Queens will take up a donation to help buy shoes for those in need.
