It looked as if the Royals were off to a hot start when a three-pointer from Jackson put Queens ahead by seven, 18-11, with 11:20 to play. However, back-to-back buckets from the Bulldogs brought them to within three of the home team. Â
A three-pointer from
Ben Richter would hold the Bulldogs off for just a little while longer, but Wingate stayed on the Royals' heels knotting the game up twice in the final minute of the half before eventually taking a 29-27 lead into the break on a Isiah Cureton jumper.
Â
The second half was just as close as the first beginning with four ties. A 7-0 run by the Royals would help the home team pull away at the midway point, but once again they would go cold from the floor down the stretch. A dunk from Jackson at 5:01 that gave the Royals a 56-52 lead would be Queens' only field goal in the closing minutes until Jackson connected on a jumper off of an inbounds play at 1:28.
Â
Unfortunately for Queens, the Bulldogs had taken over control of the lead at 2:54 when Xavier Griffin knocked down a pair of free-throws to put his team ahead 58-56. Wingate would hold on to the narrow lead connecting on 5-of-8 shots from the foul line in the final minutes
