BREVARD, N.C. – The Queens tennis teams travelled to Brevard College today hoping to take their win streaks to five games apiece. Ultimately both teams were successful as the men won 7-2 and women 9-0.
Men The men won all three doubles match with
Per-Erik Soler and
Jules Athalis (8-3),
Ole-Jacob Meum and
David Ming Jiang (8-1), and
Will Roberson and
Ignacio Casali (8-3) earning victories. Queens used that momentum to catapult them to four singles victories in straight sets. Adding points for the visitors were Soler (6-0, 6-1), Athalis (6-4, 6-3), Casali (7-5, 6-4), and Meum (6-2, 6-3).
The men are now 11-4 overall and 7-2 in conference.
Women The women also picked up a victory today when they swept the Tornadoes 9-0. The Royals started off the day with three doubles victories from the pairings of
Christina Rustscheff (9-7),
Jaclyn Rock and
Claire Hamilton (8-1), and
Farina Rafiq and
Paige Ernest (8-1).
The Royals also won every single singles match to complete the sweep on the home team. Adding victories were Rustscheff (6-1, 4-6, 10-6), Laing (6-2, 6-4), Rock (6-1, 6-2), Hamilton (6-1, 6-0), Rafiq (6-1, 6-1), and Ernest (6-1, 7-6)
The women are now 13-2 overall and 8-1 in conference play. Both teams travel to Tusculum on Saturday.
