Royals bounce back with win over Catawba

Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte (13-12) improved to 11-10 in South Atlantic Conference play tonight with a 70-60 win over Catawba College (7-18, 7-14 SAC) in Curry Arena.
 
Senior forward Josh Clyburn led the way for Queens with 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting. He also grabbed 10 rebounds and totaled five blocks. Junior forward Nkosi Ali added 12 points and 6 rebounds off the bench, while sophomore guard Joby Glymph  and senior forward Brent Evans each chipped in with 11 points.
 
The Royals outscored the Indians 40-18 in the paint and outrebounded Catawba, 49-41.
 
After opening the game with a dunk from Clyburn, the Royals found themselves trailing Catawba by seven, 13-6, following a 13-4 run by the Indians. Another slam, this time from Ali, at 13:42 would spark a 9-0 push for the Royals, giving the home team a 17-15 lead with 8:06 to play. However, five quick points from the Indians would put them back on top and they would carry a 30-24 lead into the halftime break.
 
The Royals quickly knotted things up in the second half with an 8-2 run to make the score 32-32. They then scored six straight to go ahead 38-32 with 16:02 to play. An 11-4 run then helped Queens see its largest lead of the game, 49-36.
 
A late push by the Indians late in the game helped Catawba cut into the Royals' lead, but 6-of-6 shooting at the foul line in the final minute helped Queens put the game away.
 
The Indians were led by Kijuan Arrington who scored 19 points. Tyrece Litte added 17 points.
 
The Royals close their regular season on Saturday at home against Anderson University at 8 p.m.
