Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team collected a 59-58 win over Wingate University (13-9, 10-8 (SAC)) this evening in Curry Arena improving their record to 10-8 in the South Atlantic Conference. The Royals' overall record now sits at 12-10.

A 19-6 run late in the second half of action allowed the Royals to get back into the game after trailing the Bulldogs by as much as 15 points. With 2:29 to play, the game sat at 56-55 in Wingate's favor. A foul by Queens'
Brent Evans would send Wingate's Isiah Cureton to the line where he knocked down a pair to give his team a three-point lead with 52 seconds on the clock.

Turnovers would be the thing to put the Bulldogs under in the final 11 seconds of action as a steal by
Nkosi Ali gave the Queens' Stokes the chance to score a layin. Stokes was fouled on the play and sent to the line to shoot two where he connected on both to bring Queens to within one again. With 7.2 on the clock, Stokes intercepted the inbound pass by the Bulldogs and pulled up for a jumper from the right wing that went through the net and gave Queens a 59-58 lead.

The Bulldogs' Terrill Hilliard had a chance to score the game-winner for his team but it rimmed out as the horn sounded.

Following a first half, where Queens shot 41.7 percent from the floor to trail the Bulldogs 34-27, the Royals found themselves in a hole in the second when Wingate opened with a 10-0 run. Later in the half, the Bulldogs' offense went cold as the Royals put together their run.

The Royals shot 50 percent from the floor in the second half compared the Wingate's 21.7 percent second half clip.

Queens also outscored the Bulldogs 34-20 in the paint and won the battle under the glass, 45-37.

Forwards
Josh Clyburn and Ali led Queens with 11 points apiece.
David Mason and Stokes each scored 10 points. Stokes also dished out five assists. The Royals totaled 11 blocks as a team.

The Bulldogs were led by Ryan Daye who scored 12 points. Deion Turman, Jeff Parker and Cureton each added 10 points.
