Men’s basketball dominates Tusculum on the road

Box Score GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Royals defeated Tusculum College, 86-60, today on the road ending their three-game skid and improving to 2-5 on the year and 2-2 in South Atlantic Conference play. The Pioneers fall to 1-6 on the season and 1-3 in the league.
 
Queens shot 53.4-percent from the floor today to defeat the Pioneers. They also made a season-high 12 three-pointers in the win, and totaled a season-high 23 assists on their 31 made field goals.
 
Junior guard Rob Lewis led the Royals with 19 points on 7-of-9 shooting. Lewis also dished out five assists. Freshman Todd Withers turned in his best performance of the season totaling 15 points after knocking down four of his five attempts from behind the three-point arc. Sean Morgan added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Marquis Rankin chipped in with 10 points and five assists. Jedarian Jackson also contributed to the Royals' 23 total assists tallying five.
 
The Royals quickly took control offensively in today's game as an 11-2 run capped by a Withers dunk gave the visitors a 10-point lead, 19-9, at the under 12 media timeout. They would lead by as much as 17 before heading into the locker room with a 40-26 advantage at the break.
 
Queens continued to dominate the Pioneers in the second half holding the home team scoreless for over four minutes. A three-pointer from Withers with 3:53 to play would give the Royals their largest lead of the day, 82-50.
 
The Royals won the battle under the glass today 34-28 and outscored their opponent in the paint for the sixth time this season. They were also able to convert Tusculum's 19 turnovers into 25 points.
 
Tusculum's offense was led by Cory Fagan, who scored 20 points. Zach Davis added 15 points.
 
Queens returns to action at home on Saturday, December 13 against Brevard College. Tip-off is at 4 p.m. in Curry Arena.
