Charlotte, N.C. - Queens University of Charlotte women's swim team pushed past the Limestone Saints on Saturday, December 13, 2014, as the team took first in every event they competed in for a 116-81 finish.
On such a strong Royals performance, Head Coach
Jeff Dugdale commented, "I am very pleased on how we finished finals this morning. We won every event against a very good team with some talented athletes. We will carry this momentum into Christmas training."
Starting off the day with the 200 Yard Medley Relay,
Hannah Peiffer,
Emma Durante,
Madeleine Wallmon, and
Shane Knight, respectfully powered to the wall with a time of 1:47.18 to take first. Following closely behind and closing out Limestone was the quartet of
Olivia Gutknecht,
Kristen Bohrer,
Jessica Parmenter, and
Kristin Diemer taking second place and grabbing a time of 1:50.17.
Kathryn Johnston,
McKenzie Stevens, and
Lauren Frizzell took a 1-2-3 finish, respectfully, in the 1000 Yard Freestyle. Johnston took a 10:29.78 for the event followed by Stevens with a 10:42.31 and Frizzell with a 10:42.32.
Lillian Gordy held the 200 Yard Freestyle for the Royals with a 1:54.47 finish nudging out Limestone's Emily Reh by one hundredth of a second.
It would again be a 1-2-3 finish for the Royals as
Alexandra Marshall, Diemer, and Knight, respectfully, controlled the 50 Yard Freestyle. Marshall's 24.19 finish was top overall in the event. Diemer would follow with a 24.69 and Knight with a 25.12.
Caroline Arakelian surpassed the competition in the 400 Yard Individual Medley securing not only a first place finish but shattering the pool record with a time of 4:28.36.
Peiffer took the 100 Yard Butterfly with a 57.00 with Wallmon there to keep the Saints out of the top two. Wallmon's second place finish would clock a 59.71 time.
Out touching the competition, Marshall found the wall in 52.76 for the 100 Yard Freestyle to take the top time in the event and overcome Reh who finished with a 53.01 for Limestone.
Rounding out the day, Arakelian protected the Royals dominate performance with a win in the 100 Yard Backstroked taking a 57.17 time for the event.
Kristina Kosloski gave Queens one last 1-2 finish with her second place touch coming in at 1:00.35.
Queens will take to the lanes again on January 2, to begin the new year against Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, N.C.
