Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team (7-6) picked up their first loss of the New Year this evening at Wingate University (9-4). The loss snaps the Royals' four-game win streak and puts their South Atlantic Conference record at 5-4. The Bulldogs improve to 6-3 with the win.

Sophomore guard
Joby Glymph was able to lead the Royals with 11 points after scoring on 8-of-10 attempts at the foul line. Senior forward
Josh Clyburn was also able to score the majority of his points at the free-throw line connecting on 6-of-12 attempts. He finished the game with 10 points. Senior guard
Jarrett Stokes also scored 10 points, while junior forward
Nkosi Ali added nine points.

After Clyburn tied the game at 7-7 at the foul line with 14:41 on the clock the Royals took over the lead with a three from Stokes. A layup from Ali at 12:16 would put the Royals ahead by five, 16-11, but the Bulldogs answered with a 16-3 run to take an eight-point lead with 6:51 to play. The Royals would cut the lead to two as the final minute of the half approached, but a free-throw and a bucket from the Bulldogs would give the home team a 39-34 lead at the break.

The second half is where the Bulldogs were able to open the game up with a 16-3 run to begin the period. The Royals' first field goal of the half would not come until the 12:53 mark when Clyburn scored a layup. The forward would score the second field goal for Queens as well nearly two minutes later.

Though having trouble scoring in the period, the Royals were fairly successful at the foul line connecting on 14-of-23 attempts in the second half. They shot 11-15 from the charity stripe in the first half.

A three-pointer at 2:37 from Wingate's Ryan Daye gave the Bulldogs their largest lead of the night, 79-53.

For just the second time this season Queens was outscored in the paint, 42-20.

Daye finished the game with 23 points to lead Wingate, while Josh Dominguez added 19 points. Jeff Parker flirted with a double-double scoring nine points while grabbing 20 rebounds.

Queens is back at home at Curry Arena against No. 11 Lincoln Memorial University on Saturday at 4 p.m.
