Nichols shot comes up huge in win over Erskine

Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Trailing by two, 59-57, the Royals' Brandon Nichols (Fayetteville, N.C., Jack Britt) took a three-pointer from the top of the key that fell through the net giving Queens University of Charlotte a 60-59 lead with 1:19 to play. Nichols' bucket would be the last of the game as Queens University of Charlotte (12-10) improved their league record to 9-7. Erskine College (14-8) dropped to 9-8 in Conference Carolinas play.
 
After falling behind 13 points, 49-36, following a three-pointer from Erskine's Jake Haslam, the Royals put together a 15-0 run to take a two-point lead at 5:16. Both teams would trade baskets over the next four minutes before Nichols' huge bucket proved to be the game-winner.

Freshman guard Joby Glymph (Lexington, S.C., Lexington) led the Royals in scoring with a career-high 19 points, while senior forward Antonio Stabler (Garner, N.C., Wakefield) totaled 16 points and nine rebounds. The Royals shot 50 percent from the floor.
 
Corey Sorrell led the Flying Fleet with 23 points and eight rebounds. Roderick Perkins added 15 points, while Mike Gabbard scored 10 points. Gabbard also totaled nine assists.
 
Queens' bench outscored Erskine's 29-0
 
The Royals will travel to Barton Wednesday, February 20. Tip-off is set for 730 p.m.
