Queens drops road game to Mount Olive

Box Score MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's basketball team travelled to Mount Olive to take on the Trojans in a Conference Carolinas game today. From the opening tipoff the Royals knew they were in for a battle, and found themselves trailing for most of the game.

The Trojans defensive pressure was the story of the night, as Mount Olive forced 34 turnovers and pressured the Royals' ball handlers relentlessly. Mount Olive jumped to an early lead before a Joby Glymph (Lexington, S.C., Lexington) layup tied the game with 13:46 left in the first half. But, the Royals found themselves once again behind on the scoreboard, and never were able to pull even again.'

At the end of the first half the Trojans led the game 38-28, but the Royals did have some momentum going into the second half after closing a gap that had been as high as fifteen points in the half. But that momentum was quickly erased when Mount Olive went on a 16-0 run to start the second half.

With the deficit as much as 31 points the Royals continued to struggle against the defensive pressure of Mount Olive. The Royals did shoot 46% on the night and Antonio Stabler (Garner, N.C., Wakefield) led the way for the Royals with 17 points and seven rebounds while Brandon Nichols (Fayetteville, N.C., Jack Britt) added 10 points and seven rebounds of his own.

Following tonight's loss the Royals are 5-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play. They play next this Saturday when they travel to Lees-McRae.
