Queens sweeps Bobcats in regular season

Box Score BANNER ELK, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte and Lees-McRae College met for the second time the season with the Royals coming out on top again to complete the home-and-home sweep, 69-53. The Royals are now 3-3 in the league and 6-6 on the year, while the Bobcats fall to 0-6 in Conference Carolinas and 0-12 on the season.
 
Senior forward Antonio Stabler (Garner, N.C., Wakefield) continued his spectacular play recording 27 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Royals. Senior guard Brandon Nichols (Fayetteville, N.C., Jack Britt) added 12 points, five assists, and three boards, while freshman Tre McLean (Charleston, S.C., West Ashley) chipped in with nine points and six rebounds.
 
After starting the game ahead 5-3, the Royals fell behind by as much as 10 to the Bobcats. Trailing 22-12 with 8:50 to play, the Royals began to chip away at Lees-McRae's lead. Having cut the lead to two at the final media, Sam Johnson knocked down two freebies out of the timeout; giving Queens is first lead since 18:10. The Royals closed the half on a 12-2 run, taking a 34-26 lead heading into the break.
 
The Bobcats would cut the Royals' lead to three, 43-40, halfway through the second, but that was as close as the home team would get as Queens extended its lead to 16 by the time the final horn sounded.
 
Lees-McRae was led by Daniel Sepokas who scored 18 points.
 
The Royals will return home to take on Coker College on January 16 at 7:30 p.m.
