Box Score CHARLOTTE, N.C. –The Queens University of Charlotte volleyball team hosted the Bobcats of Barton College today in a Conference Carolinas regular season showdown. The Royals hot off a win the previous night came out with their offense blazing, and picked up a 3-0 win.
In the first set the Royals outpaced the Barton attack, and showed off their explosive offense with a 25-18 win.
Lindsey Everhart (Cincinnati, Ohio, McNicholas) paced the Royals with four kills in the match, and assisted in several blocks above the net.
In the second set the Royals picked off where they left off, and started with a lead from the opening serve. The Royals defense was on fire as they controlled the net with crucial blocks, and were able to pick up digs on most every attack that entered their half. With momentum on their side the Royals were able to pick up a 25-9 victory.
Refusing to slow down Queens did not look back in the third set, and finished the match with another 25-9 victory.
Leading the Royals offensively was
Anna Gibbs (Hickory, N.C., Hickory) and Everhart who hit for over .400 in the match.
McKenzie Martin (Houston, Texas, Stratford) dictated the offense from her setter position and added 36 assists, while
Elizabeth Bialkowski (Raleigh, N.C., Millbrook) led the team with nine kills. Defensively libero
Jocelyn Kellinger (Roanoke, Va., Cave Spring) led the Royals with 15 digs.
The Royals currently stand at 12-8 overall, and 6-1 in conference. They return to the court this Friday when they host the Coker Cobras.
