WILSON, N.C. – After leading 2-1 at the break, the Royals fell 6-2 to Barton College this evening in Wilson, N.C. Queens University of Charlotte drops to 1-3 in conference play and 2-4 on the season. The Bulldogs improve to 4-1 in the league and 7-1 overall.
Erik Pajunk of Barton scored the first goal of the game in the fifth minute of play. Matt Campbell assisted him on the play.
Jeremy Chambers (Princeton, W.Va., Princeton Senior) and
Felipe Netto (Salvador, Brazil, Colegio Candido Portinari) worked together to score the next two goals in the match. Chambers chipped a ball over the Bulldogs' keeper for a goal in the sixth minute. Thirty-nine minutes later Chambers scored again on a give-and-go in front of the net with Netto. Netto assisted on both of Chambers' goals.
At the break, both squads had taken seven shots. The Royals had won four corner kicks to Barton's zero.
However, the second half was all Barton as they scored five goals taking the lead and win. Jonathan Rembecki and Erik Pajunk got the Bulldogs going with two goals in the first minute of the half. Pajunk would net another followed by Dante De Luca and Danilo Matos ending the game with a final score of 6-2.
John Rush (Jacksonville, Fla., Bolles) of Queens played in goal collecting six saves, while Barton's Brian Riesenberg tallied three.
Queens returns to the field on Saturday at 7:30, in a home game with North Greenville University.
