CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte volleyball team was swept by Limestone College Saturday morning, 19-25; 13-25; 22-25.
The loss drops the hosting Royals to 5-11 (1-5), while the visiting Saints improved to 9-8 (5-2).
The Royals found themselves in each game throughout the match with aggressive defense by
Tori Hernandez (Gainesville, Fla., Gainesvillle), who added the Royals' lone solo block while assisting on four others. Also protecting the net was
Brittany Harvey (Matthews, N.C., Sun Valley ), four blocking assists, and
Tanisha Lea (Efland, N.C., Orange Senior ) with three blocking assists
Harvey left her imprint on the match offensively, leading all players with 13 kills. Directing play for the Royals was
Erinn Moore (Longwood, Fla., Lake Mary), who assisted on 14 kills without an error. Also contributing was
Avery Griggs (Hendersonville, N.C., Hendersonville), who amassed eight assists while leading Queens with nine digs.
The Saints capitalized on strong play from Jennifer O'Keeff, who added 12 kills, two solo blocks, and 2 block assists. Balancing the attack with double-digit assists were Danielle Siebert, 15, and Laura Kerrison with 12.
Brooke England patrolled the perimeter for Limestone, collecting 20 digs.
The Royals continue their stretch against Conference Carolinas opponents on Wednesday, when Lees-McRae visits Ovens Athletics Center at 6:30 p.m.
