Royals struggle against AASU

Queens falls 8-0 in nonconference action

SAVANNAH, Ga.- In their second contest of the 2009 AASU Pirate Soccer Shootout the Queens Royals struggled to find their feet against host team Armstrong Atlantic. The Pirates (2-0) picked up the win with an 8-0 victory over Queens (0-2).
 
The Pirates scored four goals in each half of the game. Kristin Burton led the AASU offense with three goals while the other five were provided from five other players.
 
Amanda Wright (Salisbury, Md., Parkside ) registered the only shot for the Royals. Goalies Kristen Kornacki (Glen Allen, Va., Deep Run ) and Megan HIrschy (Fort Wayne, Ind., Shattuck-St.Mary's School) spilt time in the net with each allowing four goals. Kornacki played the first 23 minutes and made four saves while Hirschy finished out the game making seven saves.
 
Queens will look to rebound on Sept. 4 as they travel to Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn. Kickoff is set for 7pm.
