What is a quote that describes you?
“I've learned that no matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow. What is something interesting about you?
I am left handed and do everything left handed except for volleyball in which I play with my right.
Who is your role model?
My grandma because she has been through so much when she was younger and was able to stay positive and made a wonderful life with her husband and also raised 9 kids. My parents are also role models because they always are pushing me to excel and are always there for me no matter what.
Why did you choose that major?
I chose nursing because I love caring for people and helping them get well.
What is your favorite place on QU’s campus?
The Levine Center.
Why do you love Queens?
Because it is a beautiful campus, a great city, and has a lot to offer me both as a student and an athlete. The people at Queens make me feel like I am a part of a family especially my volleyball teammates and coaches.
What is your favorite volleyball moment?
Placing 2
nd in 18 Open Division in the Beach Volleyball Clubs of America National Championships and qualifying for Nationals with my indoor club team.
What do you want to be remembered for at QU?
I want to be remembered for being an excellent student and volleyball player.
Academic Accomplishments:
In high school, Amanda held a 3.9 GPA, and was selected to the Lake Mary Prep Headmaster's list and National Honor Society. She was awarded the Central Florida Scholar Athlete of the week by the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper, and was selected to the national society of high school scholars for academic achievement as well as being awarded top classroom student in multiple subjects.
Volleyball Accomplishments:
Selected All-Conference in high school 2011 ,2012, and 2013, and was awarded the 110% award, Coaches award, and selected as a Central Florida Scholar Athlete. During her junior year, her 17-1 Nike Elite Team finished 2nd in the Florida Regional Qualifier and qualified for Nationals.
Amanda is also a beach player as she has participated with USAV Beach Volleyball and the Beach Dig Club. During her play in beach she placed 5th in the National Championships in 2010, placed 1st in the Florida Beach Volleyball State Championships in 2012, and in 2013 placed 2nd in the Beach Volleyball clubs of America National Championships. She was also selected in 2011, 2013 and 2014 to the USAV High Performance Beach Volleyball team, and was chosen in summer 2014 to try out for the Elite 10 U21 USAV National Beach Team.
