Kayla Minner joined the women's lacrosse coaching staff in Fall 2014 after most recently served as a graduate assistant coach for the Bloomsburg University Huskies women’s lacrosse team.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled to have Kayla joining my staff, said Coach Blankenship. “She will contribute a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the game as well as the energy and enthusiasm that we need to continue in our forward progression. Kayla supports my philosophy and mission regarding the student-athlete experience, and will be an amazing addition to our department in general.”
Minner worked with the Huskies program from 2013-2014 serving as the primary assistant on the coaching staff. She helped the team turn in a 9-8 overall record in the PSAC as an integral part of the weight training and skill development of the student-athletes. Three students earned All-PSAC honors during her time there, and the team was named IWLCA Division II Academic Honor Squad.
“I am very honored and excited to join the women’s lacrosse staff at Queens, said Minner. “I am humbled and excited for the opportunity to learn and work alongside Coach Blankenship. It is a great time for the program and I am eager and looking forward to developing the student-athletes both on and off the field.”
Prior to beginning her collegiate coaching career, Minner was a student-athlete on the Mercyhurst University women’s lacrosse team accumulating 136 goals and 55 assists from the 2009-2013 season. Minner’s efforts on and off the field earned her the head captain title in 2012 and 2013 when she was named to the All-PSAC First Team. She was also an IWLCA Senior All-Star and a member of the IWLCA Division II Academic Honor Squad in 2013.
Minner earned her degree from Mercyhurst in 2013 after double majoring in early childhood education and special education. She also earned her master’s degree from Bloomsburg in education with a focus on student affairs.
