Terrence Baxter joined the athletic department in 2011 as the assistant women's basketball coach after spending three seasons with the Tornados of Brevard College.
After joining the Tornados in the 2008-09 season, Baxter served as the primary assistant to Head Coach Shannon Reid, assisting in all phases of the Brevard women's program.
Baxter was also the Director of Operations at Brevard overseeing a number of primary day-to-day activities which included; facilities rentals, weight room management, supervision of graduate assistants and work study students, and game day operations.
Baxter played basketball at Pfeiffer from 1996-2001, and captained the Falcons from 1998 until the end of his career. While at Pfeiffer, Baxter was twice named to the All-Carolinas Virginia Athletic Conference (CVAC) team and was an All-American selection in 1999 and 2000. He was named Team MVP after the 1999-2000 season, finished his career as a member of Pfeiffer's 1000-point club, and led the Falcons to two CVAC regular season championships. Baxter was named to the All-Region team in 1999-2000 after leading the CVAC in steals, having three or more steals in 25 games throughout the season. Additionally, he led the CVAC in assists as he was able to dish out double-digit assists on nine separate occasions. That same year the Falcons went undefeated in league play with Baxter as the team captain. His stellar performance on the floor earned him a spot on Dick Vitale's Top ten D-II players list in 2000-2001 according to Street & Smith Magazine.
Baxter returned to his alma mater in 2006 as an assistant with the men's basketball team, specializing in coordinating the offensive and rebounding aspects of the Falcons program for two seasons. He also served as head coach of Pfeiffer's junior varsity program, where he mentored players during study hall sessions, supervised the team's strength and conditioning program, and worked at the school's basketball camps.
Baxter has a 15-year old son named Jairez.
