Bruce Mottern

Bruce Mottern enters his third season as goalkeepers coach for the Royals. 

Mottern is responsible for the evaluation and critique of all Royals keepers while helping them with sports nutrition, weight training, conditioning and injury prevention.

The Knoxville, Tenn., native graduated from Queens University of Charlotte in 2005 holding a bachelor's degree in marketing with a concentration in pre-law. While at Queens, Mottern served as team captain for two years and played goalie, logging a 43-7-4 career record which included 20 shutouts. In addition, Mottern was named to the CVAC All-Conference team three times, the Southeast All-Region team twice, the CVAC All-Tournament team once, and in 2004 he earned first team All-American honors.

Following graduation, Mottern played for the Charlotte Eagles for two years. He was also an assistant coach with the Winthrop University Eagles from 2007-2009. While there, Mottern earned an MBA.

Additionally, Mottern is a Digital Product Development VP at Bank of America.
