    Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

Josh Stein begins his second year as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Queens during the 2009-10 season. Previously Stein was a member of the Queens staff during the 2002-03 season, when the Royals notched a school-record 29 wins and a berth in the 2003 Division II Final Four.  During the 2002-03 season, Stein had the opportunity to work with the top two scorers in Queens Basketball history, Chris Benson and Carlos Andrade, as well as the 2003-04 Division II National-Player-of-the-Year, Spencer Ross.

Before being added to Wes Long’s staff at Queens in August 2008, Stein was an assistant boys’ coach at Providence Day School in Charlotte, N.C., where he also served as head coach of the JV team. Prior to working at Providence Day, Stein spent one season as an assistant coach at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, Va.

From 2004-06, Stein served a two-year stint as an assistant coach at Catholic University in Washington D.C.  Catholic University, a member of NCAA Division III, posted a 41-17 record during Stein’s tenure. Josh was responsible for daily office operations, film exchange, and opponent scouting at Catholic U.

“I am excited to have Josh Stein back again for another season, and I’m looking forward to watching him become a better coach every day,” said Coach Long. “Having known Josh for more than eight years, I’ve had the opportunity to observe his energy and enthusiasm in a number of different settings. I know that this year will be an important one for him as he strives towards achieving his professional goals, and our program should benefit from his work.”

Stein is a 1995 graduate of the University of Maryland, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Agronomy.  Stein, 35, is single and resides in Charlotte.
