Outside of working with the Royals, Tyson has worked as the Director of Athletic Development at Architech Sports and Physical Therapy here in Charlotte since June 2009. Tyson was in charge of the design and implementation of the Athletic Development Program geared towards middle, high school and college age athletes. He also has great experience developing professional athletes as he was involved in the creation and coaching of athletes getting ready for the NFL Combine. Four players from the program are currently playing in the NFL. In addition, Tyson was part of the development and instruction of a four year weight and dry land program for local Olympic Swim Team members. The end result was three gold medals and three silver medals being brought back home from London.
Tyson was also instrumental in the organization and management of the Athletic Training Center at Architech Sports. He also played a part in the equipment and facility management, which included the cleaning, repairing and designing of the facility and its equipment. He was also in charge of scheduling and managing a staff that assisted him in coaching the daily classes.
Prior to joining Architech Sports, Tyson was and undergraduate assistant at Charlotte Strength and Conditioning. He also currently works as a high school and collegiate official.
Tyson earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science in 2009 from UNC-Charlotte while working as a strength and conditioning coach at the university. He also became a certified strength and conditioning specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association in 2009. In 2008, he became a Level One Poliquin Coach.
