Queens Men's Rugby Announces 2026 Fall Schedule

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Queens University of Charlotte Head Men's Rugby Coach Tyree Reed are excited to announce the Royals' 2026 fall schedule, which features a challenging mix of nationally ranked opponents, local rivalries, and key Atlantic Rugby Conference (ARC) matchups.

The Royals open the season on the road against the University of Rio Grande in Ohio, where they will face a strong NCR Great Lakes Conference opponent in a non-conference clash.

Queens then travels to historic West Point, New York, to take on Army, marking the first meeting between the two programs in nearly two years. The matchup will provide an early-season test against one of the nation's premier rugby programs.
After opening the season with two road contests, the Royals return home for back-to-back Friday night non-conference matches.

The home opener will feature a rematch with Southern Virginia University, following a tightly contested spring meeting between the two teams. That same weekend, Queens' second side will travel to face the University of South Carolina.

The following Friday, the Royals welcome Southern Nazarene University to Charlotte for the first meeting between the two programs. The matchup pits two teams that qualified for last season's NCR playoffs and should provide another exciting early-season contest.

Queens then begins Atlantic Rugby Conference play by hosting Kutztown University. If last year's meeting is any indication, fans can expect another high-scoring, entertaining battle at Dickson Field.

Following a three-match homestand, the Royals hit the road for two important conference fixtures.

The first comes against defending NCR National Champion St. Bonaventure University, a matchup Coach Reed believes will be one of the toughest tests of the season.

Following that contest, Queens travels to nearby Belmont Abbey College for one of the region's premier rivalries. The local derby has consistently produced physical, emotional matches, and this season marks the first time the Royals will visit the Crusaders on their home field, creating what promises to be an electric atmosphere.

After three demanding conference matches, Queens heads into its bye week before traveling to St. Thomas University in Florida. The Bobcats handed the Royals their only loss during the 2026 spring 15s campaign, giving Queens an opportunity for redemption.

The Royals close the regular season with back-to-back Friday night home conference matches.

First, Queens hosts Wheeling University in a pivotal ARC showdown. Last season, the two sides played to a draw during the regular season before the Royals narrowly defeated the Cardinals in the NCR National quarterfinals.

The regular season concludes on Senior Night as Queens welcomes Walsh University to Charlotte.

The following weekend, the Atlantic Rugby Conference Championship will determine the conference champion and the league's automatic qualifier for the NCR National Playoffs.

Coach Reed's Thoughts
"I am very excited about this year's schedule," said Head Coach Tyree Reed. "Our four non-conference matches give us an outstanding opportunity to build into the season before entering what is once again one of the most competitive conferences in college rugby.

We have a young team this year with more newcomers than returning players, but our coaching staff is excited to welcome those fresh faces into the program. We're looking forward to watching them grow in the Queens jersey while upholding the standards and culture that have been built here.

This schedule will challenge us every week, and that's exactly what we want. Our goal is to continue developing throughout the season and put ourselves in the best possible position to compete for another conference championship and make a deep run in the NCR playoffs. We can't wait to get started."
