Henson, Nützel Earn April FieldTurf Royals of the Month; Men’s Soccer Claims Royal Service Award

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — From the month of April, Queens Athletics is proud to recognize Lindsay Henson of softball and Jakob Nützel of men's track & field as the FieldTurf Royals of the Month, honoring their standout performances and impact for the Royals during the month.

Jakob Nützel – Men's Track & Field
Jakob Nützel earns April Royals of the Month recognition after a dominant stretch in discus competition that positioned him among the conference's premier field athletes. Nützel opened the month by earning ASUN Field Performer of the Week honors on April 2 after winning the discus at the Raleigh Relays with a throw of 55.15 meters.

Later in the month, Nützel continued his standout form at the Duke Invitational on April 10, earning a second-place finish in the discus with a throw of 54.27 meters against elite competition. His consistency, high-level results, and ability to deliver on major stages made April a defining month in his season and highlighted his impact for Queens men's track & field.

Lindsay Henson – Softball
Lindsay Henson delivered one of the most historic offensive months in Queens softball history, rewriting the program record book with a record-breaking power surge in April. Henson surpassed the Royals' single-season home run record during the month and finished the year with 17 home runs, establishing a new program benchmark while emerging as one of the ASUN's most dangerous hitters.

Her offensive production fueled Queens throughout conference play, consistently delivering game-changing power in key moments while helping anchor the middle of the Royals' lineup. Henson's historic season became one of the defining stories of the spring and ultimately earned her second-team All-ASUN honors, cementing her place among the top performers in program history.

ROYALS SERVICE AWARD
Queens Athletics is proud to recognize Men's Soccer as the Royal Service Award recipient for the month, honoring their outstanding commitment to community engagement and service.

Men's Soccer: Men's Soccer earned the monthly honor after posting a team-leading 74 Team Impact Score. The Royals recorded 138 total validated service hours across 69 community commitments during the month, generating an estimated $4,818 in economic impact. With all 29 student-athletes participating (100 percent), the program demonstrated an exceptional commitment to service throughout April.

The Royals made their impact across three service opportunities and three organizations, contributing in Children and Youth, Faith-based Service, and Human Services initiatives. Men's Soccer's efforts included volunteering with Matthews Mavericks FC, supporting Training Church logistics and setup, and participating in Queens Day of Service. Their complete team participation and broad community reach exemplified Queens' commitment to servant leadership, making a meaningful difference on campus and throughout the Charlotte community during the month of April.

"Royals of the Month" honors are awards given to outstanding male and female student-athletes who have demonstrated exceptional performance and contribution to their sport. These awards are voted on by athletic administration.

ABOUT THE ROYALS SERVICE AWARD
In the past, Queens Athletics has presented an annual Royal Service Award to individual student-athletes or teams who have gone above and beyond to help improve the Queens community. Criteria for this award include acts of community engagement that are purposeful, progressive, deliberate, intentional, and impactful to the Queens campus and the greater community.

Honoring Queens student-athletes with a monthly award in addition to the annual award will strengthen the support of the University's motto, "Not to be served, but to serve."
