THE SHORT STORY
The Queens University of Charlotte softball team dropped Sunday's series finale to Jacksonville, 8-0, as a five-run fifth inning from the Dolphins proved to be the difference.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game remained scoreless through four innings, with Queens collecting a few solid hits but unable to push a run across.
- Jacksonville broke through in the fifth, taking advantage of an error before adding a two-run homer and an RBI single to build a 5-0 lead.
- Queens threatened in the sixth after Lauren Byrd doubled and advanced to third, but the Royals weren't able to send her home.
- The Dolphins added three insurance runs in the seventh to seal the victory.
