THE SHORT STORY
The Queens University of Charlotte softball team dropped its ASUN matchups to Jacksonville on Saturday afternoon, falling 8-2 in game one after the Dolphins used two early home runs and a six-run cushion to control the game. In game two, The Dolphins used a four-run second inning to hold off Queens in the nightcap.

GAME ONE
Jacksonville wasted no time in game one, opening the scoring with a leadoff home run before adding three more runs in the second inning on a three-run blast. The Dolphins tacked on four insurance runs in the sixth, capitalizing on timely hits and a Queens error to extend the lead to 8-0.

Queens broke through in the sixth inning, as Alivia Artanis and Sage Farmer recorded back-to-back singles to set the table. Lindsay Henson delivered the highlight of the day for the Royals, ripping a two-run double down the left field line to bring home both runners and cut into the deficit.

In the circle, Addison Kluck took the loss after allowing four runs in two innings of work. Kooper Barnes provided a steady relief effort, tossing five innings and allowing four runs (just two earned).

GAME TWO
After a scoreless first, Jacksonville broke through with a four-run second inning, highlighted by a bases-clearing double from Alison Carter. The Dolphins added a run in the fourth and stretched the lead to 8-0 in the fifth following a three-run home run.

Queens responded in the fifth, getting on the board with an RBI double from Sage Farmer and a sacrifice fly from Lauren Byrd to cut the deficit to 8-2.

The Royals made things interesting in the seventh, erupting for five runs on five hits. Byrd drove in a run with a single before Olivia Thornton ripped a two-run double down the line. Henson capped the rally with a two-run home run to pull Queens within one, but Jacksonville recorded the final outs to escape with the 8-7 win.

Henson took the loss in the circle, allowing five runs over three innings. Kluck followed with two innings, and Barnes closed with two scoreless frames.
