BOONE, N.C — The Queens University of Charlotte softball team recorded three home runs across Saturday's doubleheader but ultimately fell in both games at Appalachian State, dropping the opener 11-3 in five innings before an 11-3 decision in six innings in game two.

GAME 1: APP STATE 11, QUEENS 3 (5 INN.)
- Queens put together an eight-hit performance in the opener but a six-run second inning by the Mountaineers proved to be the difference.
- App State jumped ahead in the first with a two-run home run before the Royals responded in the second inning when Madison Cantoni launched a solo homer to left field to cut the deficit to 2-1.
- The Mountaineers answered with six runs in the bottom half of the inning, highlighted by a grand slam, to extend the lead to 8-1.
- Queens continued to compete offensively throughout the game. In the third inning, Olivia Thornton came around to score on an RBI double from Shayna Suttles to make it 8-2. The Royals added another run in the fifth when Suttles delivered again with an RBI single after Lindsay Henson doubled down the left field line.
- Suttles led the Royals offensively, finishing 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Cantoni's home run highlighted the Royals' eight-hit outing.
GAME 2: APP STATE 11, QUEENS 3 (6 INN.)
- Queens once again showed power at the plate in game two with a pair of home runs, but Appalachian State used early offense to secure the doubleheader sweep.
- The Mountaineers opened the scoring with three home runs in the first inning to build a 4-0 lead.
- The Royals responded in the third when Sage Farmer connected on a two-run homer down the right field line to score Dani Stewart, cutting the deficit to 4-2.
- App State answered with four runs in the bottom of the third to extend the lead, but Queens continued to battle. In the fifth inning, Olivia Thornton added a solo home run down the left field line for the Royals' final run of the game.
- Thornton paced the offense in game two, finishing 2-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI, while Farmer's two-run homer accounted for the Royals' biggest swing of the afternoon.
