CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte men's lacrosse team (4-5, 0-1) opened Atlantic Sun Conference play this afternoon, falling 7-4 in a battle with Mercer (5-4, 1-0).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0 late in the first quarter, Queens'
Ethan Scaffidi put the Royals on the board to cut the margin to one heading into the second. The Bears then outscored the Royals 2-1 in the final five minutes of the half to take a 4-2 lead at the break.
An early goal in the third from Mercer's Dillon Bush put the Bears in front 5-2, and that score remained until
Carter Petersen found the back of the net at 6:38 in the fourth. Back-to-back goals from Mercer in the final two minutes then increased the gap to four before
Ryan McDaniel scored the final goal of the day with 45 seconds left in regulation.

- In goal, freshman goalkeeper Noah McGovern recorded a career-high 19 saves.
