THE SHORT STORY
The Queens University of Charlotte men's volleyball team dropped a straight-set decision to Loyola Chicago on Friday evening inside Joseph J. Gentile Arena. The Royals kept the opening and final sets competitive but ultimately fell to the Ramblers by scores of 25-21, 25-11, and 25-20.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Queens battled early in the opening set, trading points with Loyola throughout much of the frame. The Royals recorded 11 kills in the set and remained within striking distance before the Ramblers used a late push to secure the 25-21 win.
Loyola took firm control in the second set behind an extremely efficient offensive performance. The Ramblers totaled 14 kills without committing an error to hit .778 in the frame, pulling away for a 25-11 victory to take a 2-0 match lead.
The Royals responded with their strongest offensive showing in the third set, recording 14 kills while hitting .235. Queens remained within reach throughout the set, but Loyola's balanced attack ultimately closed out the match with a 25-20 win.
BY THE NUMBERS
Loyola Chicago was paced by Daniel Fabikovic, who recorded a match-high 14 kills while hitting .522. The Ramblers finished the match hitting .436 as a team.
