CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte field hockey team (0-4) faced UMass Lowell (2-3) this evening at Bessant Field, falling 5-2 to the River Hawks.
INSIDE THE MATCH
The Royals got on the board first on a goal from
Hensley Miller in the fifth minute of action. They carried the one-point lead the entire half until the River Hawks were able to sneak a ball into the cage on a penalty corner at the end of the half, tying the game, 1-1.
UMass Lowell would take a 2-1 lead with a goal less than three minutes into the third quarter, but Queens'
Jarmilla Richter punched a ball into the net late in the period to knot the game back up, 2-2.
The River Hawks then got lucky early in the fourth quarter, scoring back-to-back goals within a minute to take a 4-2 lead at 49:44. An insurance goal on a penalty corner followed for UMass Lowell in the 59
th to help them put the game away.
