CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Queens University of Charlotte women's lacrosse team (6-11, 3-3) dominated Lindenwood University (10-5, 3-3) this afternoon, winning 18-7 over the Lions in the regular season finale at Dickson Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Following a first quarter that ended tied at 2-2, Queens used a 6-2 push in the second to build an 8-4 lead at the half.
Out of the break, the Royals remained hot on the offensive end of the field, stringing together runs to outscore the Lions 7-2 in the period to lead 15-6 heading into the game's final period.
A goal from Kaysyn Sadler at 14:08 in the fourth triggered the running clock rule, and Queens cruised to victory, allowing just one goal from Lindenwood in the final 15 minutes of regulation.
KEY STATS & NOTES
- Senior attacker Jordan Tandler and junior midfielder Isabella Swanson both recorded a hat trick and one assist today. Swanson also tallied four caused turnovers, three draw controls, and three ground balls.
- Junior attacker Elise Grissett added three goals and two assists. Junior attacker Kayleen Favreau added two goals and one assist.
- Senior midfielder Karsyn Sadler chipped in with two goals, while sophomore midfielder Maya Elwood had one goal and two assists.
- Freshman attacker Lexy Stevenson notched her first collegiate career goal, while fellow freshmen Anna Bednarz and Michaela Paterson each scored one goal as well.
- Defensively, freshman Savannah Donahue had three caused turnovers and one ground ball, while senior Avery McMullin had two caused turnovers and four ground balls. Sophomore Abby Langan had two caused turnovers and two ground balls.
- In goal, Gianna Coburn totaled eight saves for her second win of the year.
- Ryleigh Cavanaugh and Alissa DiGiacinto each scored two goals for Lindenwood. Luci Selander, who leads the ASUN in goals per game, was held to just one goal on the day.
- Queens tallied 32 shots on goal compared to Lindenwood's 15.
- The Royals were a perfect 27-27 in clears and led in ground balls, 25-15.
- Lindenwood won the battle in the circle, earning 19 draw controls to Queens' eight.
