HOW IT HAPPENED
-Queens jumped on the Eagles in the top of the third inning as
Tyler Peters ripped a leadoff double down the left field line. Freshman
Jay Polite followed it up with an RBI single through the left side on a 3-1 pitch to give the Royals an early 1-0 advantage.
-After being held scoreless through four frames, the Eagles broke through in the bottom of the fifth inning. Jaret Nelson worked a leadoff walk before swiping second. Jake McKee followed it with an RBI triple to right center. Queens turned to
Joey Ruller out of the bullpen and the southpaw picked up back-to-back outs. However, FGCU didn't let the new arm escape as Harrison Povey belted a two-run homer to right center to give the Eagles a 3-1 lead.
-In the bottom of the eighth inning, FGCU erupted with four runs on four hits, including two home runs. The frame was capped off with a three-run blast from Jake McKee to push the lead to 7-1.
