The Short Story:
After taking a 5-1 lead into the bottom of the fifth inning, the nationally ranked Georgia Bulldogs plated 16 runs over the final two innings to grab a Tuesday afternoon victory over Queens. The Bulldogs offense, which leads the country in home runs, blasted on the day while also adding four doubles.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Georgia jumped on the visiting Royals in the bottom of the first inning as Slate Alford blasted a solo home run to left center for the early 1-0 lead. Queens starter
Ryan Brown issued a one-out walk, but escaped the inning picking off the Bulldogs runner attempting to steal third.
-The Bulldogs carried their quick start into the bottom of the second inning plating four runs on two hits. With two runners in scoring position and two outs, Kolby Branch sent a two-run single into left field to turn the lineup card over. Slate Alford stepped in and sent his home run in as many innings down the right field line to extend the lead to 5-0.
-Queens chipped away at the deficit in the top of the third inning with a run on two hits.
Jake Barbour led off the frame with a single to left field before advancing to second on a wild pitch. The Bulldogs would retire the next two Royals, but an RBI single from
Will Budnick cut the deficit to 5-1.
-The Bulldogs high-octane offense erupted in the bottom of the fifth inning with eight runs on seven hits. The inning was sparked with three doubles and two home runs, including a grand slam off the bat of Devin Obee.
-Georgia carried the momentum into the sixth inning where the Bulldogs plated eight more runs on seven hits. The highlight of the inning was a grand slam from Robbie Burnett, the Bulldogs second grand slam of the game.
BY THE NUMBERS
-Freshman
Lenox Lively led the Royals with a 2-for-3 performance. The Swainsboro, Georgia native returned to his home state and turned in his second multi-hit game of the season.
-Raleigh native
Jake Barbour added a 1-for-3 performance, including a walk.
-Senior
Will Budnick recorded a 1-for-3 day at the plate and drove in his 13
th RBI of the season.
-Rookie
Ryan Brown made his 12
th appearance and fourth start of the season. The Ashland, Kentucky native tossed 1.0 inning allowing one run on one hit.
-Right-hander
Jack Brooker turned in a solid 2.0 innings of relief out of the bullpen. Brooker allowed just one run on one hit while striking out two Bulldogs.
-Georgia plated 21 runs on 17 hits, including nine extra-base hits. Slate Alford and Robbie Burnett led the charge with four combined home runs and 11 RBI.
-The 21 runs and five home runs from the Bulldogs were the most in a single game by a Royals opponent this season.
